Goa’s Minister for Health, Women and Child Development, and Urban Development, Vishwajit Rane, participated in the review meeting of the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PMSVANidhi) Scheme, chaired by Union Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs and Minister of Power, Shri M.L. Khattar.
During the meeting, Vishwajit Rane expressed his gratitude to the Union Minister for recognising Goa’s effective implementation and progress under the scheme. He welcomed the extension of PMSVANidhi till March 2030, which he said would further advance Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of building self-reliant urban livelihoods across India.
Goa’s Model Under Vishwajit Rane’s Leadership
Under the leadership of Vishwajit Rane, Goa has emerged as one of the states efficiently implementing the PMSVANidhi Scheme. His department has focused on ensuring that every eligible street vendor receives financial assistance, digital onboarding, and capacity-building support.
By coordinating efforts across the Goa Medical College (GMC), municipal bodies, and district administrations, Vishwajit Rane has prioritized inclusive policy execution that uplifts local entrepreneurs and promotes sustainable income growth for vendor families.
He has also ensured regular monitoring of the scheme’s performance, enabling transparent and efficient delivery of benefits at the grassroots level.
Extension Till 2030: A Step Forward for Self-Reliance
The extension of the PMSVANidhi Scheme till 2030 marks a major milestone in India’s urban development framework. Vishwajit Rane noted that this decision strengthens the long-term stability of street vendor businesses by improving access to institutional credit and promoting digital literacy.
He added that the revamped scheme will also focus on financial inclusion, skill enhancement, and entrepreneurship development, allowing vendors to move beyond subsistence and establish sustainable micro-enterprises.
According to Vishwajit Rane, the initiative aligns closely with Goa’s urban policy goals of creating an ecosystem that supports innovation, inclusivity, and self-reliance.
Building Financial and Digital Empowerment for Street Vendors
A key component of Vishwajit Rane’s approach to implementing PMSVANidhi is the integration of financial and digital training programs for vendor families. These initiatives are designed to build resilience and enhance their participation in the formal economy.
Through financial literacy drives, digital payment onboarding, and entrepreneurship workshops, Rane’s department is equipping vendors with modern business tools and knowledge. This forward-looking strategy ensures that Goa’s street vendors are not only beneficiaries of the scheme but active contributors to the state’s economic growth.
Vishwajit Rane’s Vision for Inclusive Urban Growth
In his statement following the meeting, Vishwajit Rane reaffirmed his department’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the effective implementation of the PMSVANidhi Scheme across all panchayats and municipalities in Goa.
He emphasized that true progress lies in empowering people at the grassroots level and creating pathways for economic independence. By focusing on entrepreneurship, digital inclusion, and access to finance, Rane’s leadership continues to transform Goa’s urban ecosystem into a model of inclusive growth.
