Goa has continued to demonstrate strong public health performance in routine child immunisation under the leadership of Health Minister Vishwajit Rane. According to official data, more than 1.5 lakh children are vaccinated every year across the state, supported by widespread health infrastructure, trained medical teams, and digital monitoring systems.

Expanding Coverage Across All Regions

The programme operates through over 6,000 sessions annually, ensuring that vaccination access reaches urban areas, remote villages, anganwadi centres and government hospitals. Health officials report that routine immunisation sessions are conducted consistently throughout the year to prevent delays or missed doses.

Strong Cold Chain and Medical Workforce

Goa’s immunisation network includes:

  • 42 Cold Chain Points
  • 325 Trained Vaccinators
  • Statewide monitoring by health officials

These systems ensure that vaccines are handled under required temperature conditions and distributed safely across the state. Officials note that this has helped maintain uninterrupted coverage even during periods of high public health demand.

First State to Introduce Key Vaccines

Under Vishwajit Rane, Goa has led in the early roll-out of important vaccines.
Notable achievements include:

  • First state in India to introduce the Rotavirus vaccine in 2019
  • First to implement the second dose of MMR since 2008

Health authorities state that due to sustained immunisation, Goa has remained free of Measles-Rubella outbreaks for several years.

Digital Tracking with U-WIN Portal

The U-WIN portal has strengthened accountability and transparency by digitising:

  • Registration of beneficiaries
  • Monitoring of dose schedules
  • Reporting at state and district levels

Officials say the system reduces manual errors, improves planning, and helps ensure that children who miss scheduled doses are identified promptly.

Focus on Preventive Public Health

By safeguarding children from preventable diseases, Goa continues to reduce hospital admissions, lower treatment costs, and improve long-term health outcomes. The health department plans to expand digital tools, strengthen awareness programmes for parents, and improve home-based follow-up in the coming phase.

The immunisation model led by Vishwajit Rane is now considered one of the most organised and reliable in the country.
