Goa Traffic Department Launches Week-long Enforcement Drive for Road Safety

The Goa Traffic Department has rolled out a comprehensive enforcement campaign across the state, running from October 28 to November 2, with the aim of reducing road accidents and ensuring better traffic discipline. The initiative is part of a broader effort by the department to promote a culture of safe and responsible driving among citizens.

The enforcement drive, which operates daily between 9 am and 6 pm, will focus on tackling major traffic offences that frequently contribute to road mishaps, including drunk driving, riding without helmets, driving without seatbelts, underage driving, and improper vehicle modifications.

Key Focus Areas of the Drive

According to officials, this enforcement campaign is designed to target both urban and rural areas, with a particular emphasis on accident-prone zones and highways. The department’s enforcement teams will also monitor and take strict action against vehicles without number plates, illegal parking, and dangerous roadside behaviour.

Repeat violators and those found guilty of major traffic offences may face hefty fines, vehicle impoundment, and even suspension of driving licences. These measures are intended to reinforce the seriousness of traffic violations and the government’s zero-tolerance stance on reckless driving.
